Describe your ’I made it moment’.

I booked a job in NYC and didn't realize how important or special it was until I arrived. I walked onto the set and had a staff of people waiting for my input on this global fashion campaign. They were all relying on my expertise and vision. I remember feeling this rush of excitement, but I had to play it off like it was no big deal. I went back to my hotel at the end of the day and ordered room service and champagne. I blasted Jay Z featuring Alicia Keys - Empire State Of Mind on my balcony. I felt like I was on top of the world. That was the moment I felt like I made it.

How do you stay updated on the current trends?

I make sure to travel often and always keep my finger on the pulse of trends. Always staying two steps ahead is important. I have friends, designers and colleagues all over the world so we are constantly talking about trends and fashion. I work as a contributing editor to several magazines so that allows me to start my own trends as well.

What trend would you most like to see disappear?

I don't really care for the exaggerated long tee shirt trend for guys. Long tee shirts are not flattering. They shorten your silhouette and make legs appear so un proportionate to the rest of the body. I love all style trends as long as they are flattering and make you look and feel your best.

How important is Fashion Week for you?

Fashion week is very important and is such an exciting time. It is during Fashion Week that I am deciding which outfits/ looks I want for my clients. I'm constantly planning for red carpets, photoshoots and press events for clients.

What are your plans for the future? Where do you see yourself taking your styling career?

I love where I'm at in my career right now, but I never want to get too comfortable. I'm always looking to expand and keep things fresh and exciting. I'm a trusted adviser to my clients in all aspects of style, beauty and fashion. I would love to explore that and expand LVR Styling into a lifestyle brand. Beauty tips, fashion tricks, home design etc.

Advice for the up-and-coming fashion stylists up there?

I believe if you do what you love, you will never have to work another day in your life. My mom would always tell me as young kid  "I raised you to be a good employ, but an even better employer." That entrepreneurial spirit started in me as a kid and gave  me the drive to work so hard. The fashion world isn't easy, but if you have passion for it and work your ass off, you will succeed. I always make sure to never look left or right in my career because you will trip and fall hard. Especially when you start out. Just remember to keep looking forward, stay positive and do your very best. In a world of easily accessible info and social media, it's easy to compare yourself with others. Stay your own path.
