BRIAN JUSTIN CRUM

Tell us a bit about who Brian Justin Crum is and your background.
I was born and raised in San Diego. Single parent household with two older sisters.  I started doing theatre at a very young age and fell in love with performing and music, which led to a career on Broadway at barely 18 years old.

 

When did you realise you wanted to be a singer? 

Age 5

 

How hard was it to deal with bulling when you were younger? 

It was impossible. It felt like there was no escape. That it would never end.

What advice would you give the 11 years old Brian now?

I would tell him that all his dreams will come true. That everything he is working so hard for WILL be reality. That you won’t even REMEMBER the names or faces of the kids who are bullying you. That you ARE beautiful and so LOVED.

Whats the most challenging aspect of being a singer?

It’s hard to make money as a singer!

Who influences you?
My mother. She always taught me to be tender and I think thats why i’m able to connect with material. Musically, Adele, Freddie Mercury, Elton John, Céline Dion. I love EPIC voices. I also love when you can feel someone’s pain or joy when they sing and it feels authentic.

If you could duet with anyone dead or alive who it be and why?

Freddie Mercury. I’m in awe of what he could do.
